WHAT IS AN AUTOGRAPH?

It is more than the signing of a person's name: that is a signature. An Autograph is anything that is written in a person's own handwriting, also called holograph. Autograph includes entire letters, treaties, legal documents, musical scores, illuminated manuscripts, as well as the artist's signature on a painting and other works of art.


AUTOGRAPH AS A HOBBY

Autographs have been called "frozen moments in time" by some people. Probably the most personal thing that one person can give is his or her signature. They have been a popular collectible for centuries developing their own descriptive term called "Philiography".
